Leave it to the Japanese to develop a process that allows 3D pictures to be taken on your mobile phone. The module is capable of capturing high-definition (720p*2) 3D video images and should be available in later Summer 2010.
How does the system work?
Sharp’s system consists of two camera modules which allow stereoscopic shots and can easily be integrated into Smartphones and digital cameras because of their compact design. The cameras are positioned so that the selected motif is photographed from two different perspectives, thereby enabling 3D images to be captured in high resolution HD mode.
If you don’t want to wait around for Sharp’s module, here is a video guide on how to make a 3D digital camera yourself.

The Nokia Ovi store has a nice photo app for the C7 Astound mobile called ’3DPhotoFree’ which makes the Astound into a 3D camera phone
